The Legologist is biased of course, but the beauty business is one the best in the world, especially when it comes to supporting friends in need. And the generosity of Clarins, Piz Buin, Nivea and Clinique - who have between them donated 60 bottles of high factor sunscreen to my friend Bert Portal - has quite blown me away this week. Bert and James Cash are about to set off on a journey across the Atlantic: they are rowing all the way from La Gomera in the Canaries to Barbados in a boat which is about as big as my bed. Their self-funded expedition, in aid of the late surgeon Martin Kelly's charity Facing The World, will take them roughly two months and they have been training like demons for a year to undertake the challenge. Their skincare needs - protection from sun, wind, rain and sea - will now be met by the best sun experts in the world, thanks to the big-heartedness of the beauty companies above: Clarins alone donated 30 Sun Care Milk Lotion Spray 50+SPF and 30 Sun Wrinkle Control Cream 50+SPF at the drop of a hat, and The Legologist would like to express heartfelt thanks. For more info on Bert and James' challenge visit their website Facing The Atlantic, and if you would like to make a donation this is the link to their Just Giving page.
